Campers at P.S. 8 Learn About the Caribbean
This year The Children's Aid Society P.S. 8 summer campers went on a journey through the Caribbean, stopping at the islands of Haiti, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Trinidad & Tobago. Each age group of students learned about the culture, language, people, food and traditions of a specific country. Being great little tourists, they completed journals and passports of all the places that they “visited” and what they learned. As a treat for their parents and loved ones, the children had a Caribbean Carnival where they performed dances from the Caribbean islands they studied. It was filled with vivid color, imagination, art work, educational prowess and love for what they learned.
